JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS
“King Pelias insisted,
so they drove the tautly fitted Argo
up through the narrows of the Pontiac Sea
and past the cobalt Clashing Rocks to win
the golden fleece.”
The Greek tale of Jason and the Golden Fleece has been told for 3,000 years. It's a classic hero's quest in which the hero embarks on a sea voyage to an unknown land, to retrieve the magnificent Golden Fleece. The story, called Argonautica, was written in epic poetry style by Apollonius of Rhodes. There is some dispute about when it was written but it is generally believed to have been some time between 283-221 BCE. The story is a set around 1300 BCE, but the first known written mention of it comes six centuries later, in the age of Homer.
To get a better idea of the story you can have a look at an English translation of the original book or a comic of one of the versions of the quest.
